  • Kristin Kilbourn, PhD, MPH

    Dr. Kristin Kilbourn earned her Undergraduate Degree at UC San Diego (Biology and Psychology), a Master’s Degree in Public Health in Health Promotion from San Diego State University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Miami. Her training included intensive work with those living with serious illness including cancer, autoimmune disorders and heart disease. Kristin developed a new program in Psychosocial Oncology at the University of Florida and she is currently engaged in teaching, research and clinical activities at the University of Colorado. She is involved in research examining quality of life and psychosocial outcomes in medical patients and caregivers. Her teaching activities include training new therapists who are enrolled in the Clinical Health Psychology Doctoral Program at CU Denver. Prior to joining Shift Healing, Kristin spent 13 years in The Division of Psychosocial Medicine at National Jewish Health where she worked with a variety of medical patients. She served as a speaker for Lilly Oncology’s patient-centered communication programs and she currently serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the Scleroderma Foundation, Rocky Mountain Chapter. Her clinical orientation is predominately Cognitive-Behavioral and Existential and she enjoys working with individuals (patients and caregivers/family), couples who are dealing with a medical condition, and leading group interventions. Kristin is particularly interested in the mind-body connection and the impact of stress and adaptive coping on health and wellness. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, riding her horse, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and yoga.
